Probably not, is the short answer. But it’s a story worth visiting anyway.
Spider-Man 4 is going to be huge – it’s guaranteed. And that has meant rumors and speculation have been bandied around since the movie was first confirmed. The biggest debate has been reserved for who should be the villain, with most people agreeing Spider-Man 3 had too many, all of which were badly managed.
IESB reported that production on Spider-Man 4 was halted last week due to an argument over who should be the main villain of the movie. The site claims Raimi is pushing for the Vulture, while Sony Pictures wants a character who is popular and selling.
The same argument is thought to have occurred prior to Spider-Man 3 filming, with Venom being pushed on Raimi in place of the Vulture.
However, Sony sources are now stating that the story is bunkum, and that in fact the production has merely ceased for the holidays and will resume in the new year. Which wouldn’t be unusual.
So this is kind of a non-story expect Spider-Man 4 seems beset by problems and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was at least some kind of squabble going on.
Regardless, the finished film is due to be release on May 5, 2011.
