Nicole Richie Heads to Scripted Comedy

Nicole Richie is going to be a busy working mom. In addition to her jewelry line, the mother of two will be taking on a role in a scripted half-hour comedy on ABC, she blogged. Richie is tapped to play a professional woman with intricate family relationships. She describes her character: “She must deal with, and navigate the many ideas of what a woman’s role is: modern vs. traditional.” Richie said she thought of the concept and will receive a producing credit in addition to acting. She wrote on her blog, “Lately, I have been surrounded by many different women of all ages and walks of life. It amazes me to watch and observe how many different ideas there are about what a woman’s role should be in this era. I’ve taken these fascinating ideas, and compiled them into something that I think will be very special (and funny!).” The star’s on-screen resume includes reality show “The Simple Life” and “Chuck.” She has had guest-starring parts on “8 Simple Rules… for Dating My Teenage Daughter” and “American Dreams.”

Stepping out for a night on the red carpet, Natalie Portman was looking lovely at IFP’s 19th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards at Cipriani, Wall Street in New York City on Monday (November 30).
The “My Blueberry Nights” babe mingled with fellow attendees before her podium duties, smiling as she posed for pictures alongside Stanley Tucci.
The awards show outing comes as Miss Portman has been getting into promotional mode for her new movie “Brothers,” which hits theaters this Friday (December 4).
Co-starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire, the Jim Sheridan directed flick is about “a young man who comforts his older brother’s wife and children after he goes missing in Afghanistan.”

Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton is engaged. Ex-president Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s only child is engaged to be married to longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky. According to People magazine, Chelsea, 29, and her 31-year-old beau, the son of former Iowa congressman Ed Mazvinsky and former Pennsylvania congresswoman Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky, became engaged on Thanksgiving. The couple sent out a mass email to family and friends on Friday, informing them of the change in their relationship status. The letter reportedly reads: “We’re sorry for the mass email but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged!” |

Maybe it was a new fashion statement, but one thing’s for sure, Katie Holmes’ disheveled hairdo at her new charity’s first ever fundraising gala on Sunday wasn’t working for her. Mrs. Tom Cruise was at the launch of the charity Dizzy Feet Foundation – which she cofounded with “So You Think You Can Dance” judges Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman and “Dancing with the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba – at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, attending the foundation’s inaugural Celebration of Dance gala. Instead of appearing in her usual hair-and-makeup perfection, she sported a rather confusing look. She tied her hair in a rough ponytail, with strands falling into the front of her face. Holmes’ little black dress wasn’t able to stand out either; it drowned in her cream leather biker jacket and strappy black sandals. |
