Alexa Ray Joel, Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley’s daughter, was rushed to the hospital Saturday after ingesting too many sleeping pills, in what authorities consider a suicide attempt.

According to the New York Daily News, paramedics responded around 12:30 p.m. to a 911 call. Alexa apparently told medics she had trouble breathing after taking eight pills.

Mom Christie rushed into the hospital about 4:20 p.m., while dad Billy Joel remained in his Long Island home to prevent media circus. He was in constant phone contact, though, according to the paper’s source.

Alexa was discharged from St. Vincent’s Medical Center a few hours later. It was not clear where she was taken next.
