“American Idol” first ever champ Kelly Clarkson is not happy about how Taylor Swift’s record label head targeted the Fox reality show when he was defending the young singer.

Even though Swift, 20, took home four trophies at last week’s Grammy Awards, her live duet with Stevie Nicks was still panned by critics and music fans, with other media outlet calling “painfully out of tune.”

The backlash prompted Big Machine Records honcho Scott Borchetta to defend Taylor, saying the critics are missing the big picture.

He was quoted as saying among other things, “This is not American Idol. This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note.”
