Lifetime Television and ABC News will air the special with singer Rihanna speaking out about her relationship with Chris Brown and the fateful night in February where she was beaten brutally by Brown. “Rihanna Speaks Out: A Lifetime and 20/20 Special” will feature footage from Diane Sawyer’s exclusive emotional interview with the music superstar.

Rihanna is hoping to raise awareness about domestic violence by discussing how she handled dealing with the incident which saw Brown receive five years probation, community labor and one year of domestic-violence counseling.

“Rihanna’s decision to speak with Diane Sawyer about her personal experience with domestic violence was an incredibly brave act and we applaud her,” said JoAnn Alfano, Executive Vice President, Entertainment, Lifetime Networks.

“Rihanna Speaks Out ties directly into our dedication to women’s advocacy – it is at the heart of our network. Her courage provides hope and inspiration for the nearly one in four women in the United States who fall victim to domestic violence.”
