I was as surprised as anyone when Sylvester Stallone agreed to reprise his role as Rambo for a fourth movie based on the macho man. But it happened, and was released early in 2008 to mixed reviews and mixed audience reactions.
Almost as soon as Rambo IV was released, there was speculation that there would also be a Rambo V. And so it has turned out, with the new movie being officially confirmed in August of this year.
Rambo V: The Savage Hunt, as it is/was provisionally titled, was to have seen John Rambo chasing down some kind of strange man/beast/thing. That storyline was based on a James Byron Higgins novel called Hunter. But no longer, with that plot having been dropped for a new one.
Stallone told Stallone Zone:
“I’m letting you know that Rambo has changed course and the story about hunting the man/beast will be done using another character in the lead. ‘Rambo’ himself will be heading over the border to a violent city where many young women have vanished. There will be blood.”
The new plot sounds like the one based around the U.S./Mexico border which was alluded to recently but it could of course be something entirely different again. Either way, Rambo V is set to start shooting in the spring and Stallone will once again be kicking ass as only he can.
