Starz drama Spartacus: Blood and Sand delayed due to stars cancer treatment

Andy Whitfield, the star of the brutal gladiator series Spartacus: Blood and Sand has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, meaning shooting on the series will be halted. The star who has previously appeared in Aussie shows McLeod’s Daughters and Packed to the Rafters is said to be dealing with the news well. Prognosis is good due to the early stage of the disease.

Whitfield stated “I’m receiving excellent care, and am feeling strong, positive and determined with an army of support behind me”. The second season of the show – which was due to film shortly – will resume once the star has finishes treatment.
