Tough Trade is the first pilot from Epix, the cable network that launched in the US in October this year. The network is a joint venture from MGM, Viacom and Lionsgate and is expected to do big things. Tough Trade is its first major project. Weeds creator Jenji Kohan is set to produce the show which will focus on the Tucker family, three generations of country music singers, the youngest of which has no interest in becoming involved in the music industry despite his talent.
Needless to say Lucas Black will play the misfit son, Elwes will play his dad and Shepard the patriarch of the family. It sounds like The Tuckers will be a snarky bunch with lots of drama, so here’s hoping Tough Trade turns out to be something special. I’ve always been a fan of Elwes, so it will be cool to see him regularly on TV, even if he’s not saving a princess and fighting giant rats… and if you get that tangent, extra brownie points to you!
